How do I begin? This girl has me dying laughing today...
This all started in the last week or so. She has started talking about glasses. She tried on her brothers glasses at some point & said they make her see better. I asked her to cover one eye at a time, and asked her if thing were better with this eye or that, etc. She said both were blurry, but together they were okay. I keep it in mind.
Then, yesterday she told me she was having trouble seeing the spelling words on the board at school. I called the eye Dr. right away, only to find they were not accepting new patients right now. That was about 5 PM last night, but I thought it was no big deal, and I would call around today. This morning, I decided to have the school nurse check her eyes.
This morning while I was sitting with Kaden at the dentist office, I called the school & within a half hour or so, they call to let me know that she did fail the test, and that both her eyes were checking out at 20/40. I knew that was the base level for needing glasses after having gone through this with Kaden, and just figured I would get in her in to an Optometrist in the next couple of days.
THEN, the school nurse calls back a little later, and leaves me a message. After talking with her teacher, they have some "concerns" because Ellie has never complained during class at all (which is usually where this all begins at her age). They also mention that one of Ellie's best friends just got glasses YESTERDAY. Ummm...okay.
I call the nurse back to thank her for checking Ellie so quickly & for her calls, and she adds to the story :) She says this afternoon, Ellie asked her teacher if she received a letter (the referral) from the nurse for her Mom yet, and when her teacher shows it to her - she gives her friend a thumbs up!!!
Are you serious?
The nurse is giggling, and I am too! She confesses to never hearing (or telling) such a story, and once again tells me that Ellie DID fail her test, but she still unsure if she was trying her best. Nicely put. We talk a little more & decide that I will talk to Ellie about it all, and I told her I will still follow up with an optometrist, just in case.
Can you believe this rotten girl of mine?
My daughter's good friend at school wears glasses so Miss M is sort of looking forward to wearing glasses too. It looks like it may happen for her in the next year or two.

That is too funny. Luckily the optometrists have those little machines that kind of do a rough measurement of how well they can see. There'll be no lying on that one!
Lindsay was excited to get glasses like her big brother, but I guess it's better than the alternative, them needing glasses and being mortified about it.
