*smiles*
Today when I dropped Kaden off at school, he ran up behind a friend of his and then they raced into school together. It made me smile to see him having a good time & being himself with his friends. It made me think about the other day when I dropped Ellie off, and how I had left feeling really happy that day too. Her little friend that she asks "can I go to her house TODAY??" every day after school was waiting for Ellie to get out of the van. They grabbed hands and walked into school hand-in-hand, it was very cute & once again, it made me happy to see her so happy.
More on Ellie...last night she & Kaden were writing and drawing pictures, and she kept bringing me her paper with words like CGPD or DFRG and asking me what it says. I would make the sounds of the letters jumbled together & she would giggle and go back to her writing.
Then she brought me the one to the right & I was overjoyed! It says LDBG, or ladybug in beginning writing :) She was able to get all of the sounds, which is a wonderful start. I have already started (slap me now) to be concerned with her somewhat. I KNOW you should not compare children...but Kaden could read before he went to Kindergarten, and Ellie was still learning letter sounds, that is a BIG difference. I know that Kaden is not always the norm though, so I tried not to worry about Ellie. Last night showed me that she is getting it, and I just need to keep working with her & answering her 25 times a day...what does F-O-R-D spell? Mommy, what does P-B-S spell? Or hearing her throught out the day "reading" letters everywhere D-V-D, M-I-L-K, you get the idea! She also read her first book last night!! Hug by Jez Alborough, which only contains the word HUG, Mommy & Bobo, but she was VERY proud of herself :)
As much as I hate to admit this, it is fun seeing them grow up some. Do I miss them as babies? Absolutely! But I am enjoying these milestones too.
My daughter is doing all that word exploration too. It is fun, but sometimes annoying too!
