a day in lazy land

That is where I will be today.

I might work on my ornamanets for the exchange, or just take it easy reading a book.

Also on my mind is making molasses cookies.

On the kids mind...putting up the tree.

We'll see who wins  :)

*yes, I missed another post yesterday.  I was not feeling the best last night and took the advice of my loving hubby and went to bed BEFORE 9:00.  I am feeling much better today, so he deserves a big thanks for looking out for me...

black friday

wears me out, yet I will do it all over again next year  :)   I just love being out in the craziness.  It is so strange to look around the mall at 7 AM and it is busier than late on a Friday night.   The longest wait?  PacSun where we waited nearly an hour in line - UGH!   But there were alot of great deals to be found, and my favorite purchase of the day would be my new spring-form pan that I paid just $7 for!

I will honestly confess  that today I bought the official FIRST Christmas gift of the year *sigh*

It is no wonder that I feel like I can not get everything done in time for Christmas  :)

Speaking of Christmas, there are already lights up all over town, Christmas music playing on the radio, & I received my first Christmas card today in the mail (my best friend is crazy like that LOL).

We still have a Thanksgiving get-together tomorrow, so I am still being thankful today (and tomorrow too).  Today, I am giving thanks for...

• DVR,  so I can watch Grey's Anatomy sometime soon...I hope!
• a fun day shopping with by best friend
• more family time & more good food
• Chipotle, Chipotle, Chipotle!

i think i'm in love

with crafty owls  :)

 

After looking through alot of craft ideas for my ornament swap, I fell in love with owls - especially felt ones from this site. 

Isn't that stuff the CUTEST ever? 

Well, I decided to order a few kits the other night to make the owls, but I needed something to keep me busy until they arrived, so I came up with my template using her ideas and ideas from other crafters on flickr.

I am still int the process of hand stitching (!!!!) this, but I wanted to know what you  think of it thus far?  Is he/she cute? 

I am still going to add a ribbon to hang it with and another layer on the back so that I can stuff it a little.  I will attempt to blanket stitch the edges too.  Thankfully there are only 8 of us in the swap so I do not have do make too many.  As cute as they are, they are alot of work & stitching does not come as easily to me as some other kinds of crafting.  It is time consuming and a little harder (for me anyway) to walk away and come back to it. 

 

I did find a way to keep my kids busy while I've been crafting though...

 

Today (so far), I am giving thanks for...

• crafty days with my kids
• the fact that everyone is healthy at the moment
• pain reliever that got rid of the headache I had this morning
• the tooth fairy, who showed up even though Ellie had no tooth for her :)
• the internet - there is a world of insiration out there

a "lost" tooth

We have our first "lost" tooth.

Ellie has had a loose falling out tooth for about a week now.  I am talking crooked, falling out loose.  I've tried a few times to have her let me wiggle it, but she would not even let me TOUCH the tooth.  After school, she ran out toothless - literally.  She was eating lunch and the tooth came out.  She said it either dropped on the floor, or she swallowed it.  She is not too upset by it, but we'll see how she feels when she realizes that she has no tooth to put under the pillow tonight...

Today is the last day of school for  the week.  I am hoping that the kids will be angels tomorrow (hahaha) and we can all enjoy a nice quiet day at home.  Wishful thinking, right?

Then Thursday, Friday & Saturday we will be on the go enjoying family time and wonderful Thanksgiving food.  I am looking forward to both things because, like most families, it feels like we do not spend enough time together outside of the holidays.  Our immediate family does, but I am talking about the aunts, uncles, grandparents, and great-grandparents...we see them on holidays, and not a whole lot otherwise. 

That should change, I know it should. 

 

 

Today, I am giving thanks for:

• hand print turkeys (Zander's)
• hair color
• the quiet HOUR I had here today while Ava slept & Zander rested...it was w-o-n-d-e-r-f-u-l
• the smell of candles burning in my WARM, cozy house
• my hardworking husband who works OUTSIDE in this weather I do not even like to go out in
• chicken nuggets & fries for dinner which = no complaining kids :)
• Black Friday shopping plans - woohoo!

OMGoodness

Can you see me jumping up & down?   Yes, I am THAT excited.

Right now I am on the couch, posting from my LAPTOP!  I dug it out today because I am tired of not having it.  I decided that I needed to take it to have it fixed & consider it a Christmas present to myself  :)

I plugged it in "just in case..." and it powered up!  It did freeze up twice before I was able to start it completely, BUT it is working now.  I will still be taking it to have it checked over (it was freezing up constantly before it "died" so I know it needs some work.

The last picture folder I have saved on here is from April, so that tells you how long I have missed this darn thing...

The picture to the right ----> was taken the day we dropped off our shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child .  This was just one a many stacks this size.  Isn't it amazing?   I took a bunch of pictures, I could just not get over the number of boxes and thinking how many HAPPY children would be receiving them...

I'm relaxing

I've been waiting for this day all week.  We get to STAY HOME all day.  Ahhhh...

It is freezing cold out, and I am glad to be here at home.  The ONLY other place I would consider today would be the movies to see Twilight  :)  Instead, I will read the 3rd book in the series (Eclipse) and relax.

The kids are all playing well , Grandparents are visiting to deliver Ellie's birthday gifts, and I am finally much more relaxed.  Kaden is watching the OSU vs. Michigan game and we are all joining him to cheer them on with each touch down.  I feel bad that Harry had to work & miss the game, but Kaden seems to be okay watching it alone.

Ellie's party was last night and it was fun, but 10 girls is just crazy.  I was thankful we were not at our house, and also thankful when 8:00 came and they all went home :)  I was able to take some fun group pictures and they had fun making a cute "rock star" bracelet and just playing together.   As you can see from my "post" yesterday, I am just SO thankful that the birthdays are finished for the year.

Remember I mentioned being chosen for a blog award?

Well, it's been quite some time since I took Spanish, but after reading Kirsetin's blog I realized that the award was for "These blogs are exceedingly charming. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award" But because I am still a little bit nerdy (okay, alot) I wanted to know exactly what the award says.  Enter Google translate.  I just entered the text & viola!  The award basically says "this blog invests in and accredits closeness" Duh.  I guess I did know a little more Spanish than I gave myself credit for And now for my choices...  most of these blogs I find time to read everyday (sorry I am not the best at comments lately, girls) and I have become friends with most of them via our blogs, which is the whole point, right?

These ladies remind me that I am not alone in this whole Mom thing.  I am the same as every one of these Moms,and I am different than everyone of them too.  All of them are creative & inspire me in one way or another.  They lift me up, they make me smile - and they make me happy to "know" them  :)

My neighbor just called to tell me that Twilight was AWESOME!  So awesome that she would either babysit so that Harry & I could go see it OR if he was uninterested, she would go see it again with me.  It must be good  :)  Oh, I can not wait!

Sometime today (or was it yesterday?) I read through some of my recent posts, and realized that I have barely posted anything HAPPY this entire month.  If you took away the birthday pictures/posts, I bet the rest would be all blah posts.  I am am thinking that the NaBloPoMo may not have have been the best idea, or maybe it is just the month?  Regardless, I will brighten it up, I promise! 

After all, it is almost time for Christmas, and crafts, and snow, and shopping  :)

I am doing another ornament swap this year - has anyone found that PERFECT handmade ornament?  Care to share the idea, I've not found anything I like yet *sigh*
