Today is another fun blog blast post inspired by marriage.eharmony.com (a fantastic new online alternative to marriage counseling) and parentbloggers.com
The blast prompt for today is:
You know you need a date with your husband when...
I wish I had some creativity left in me tonight so that I could come up with a cute little line like the ones listed at PBN, but I've been playing "SuperMom" all day long now that the kids are home for summer, and my energy level is in the negative tonight.
So instead of telling you when I know we need a date, I'll tell you something even funnier....what we do most times on our "dates" :) I know I also posted not too long ago how enjoyable they are at times too, LOL!
Thankfully, things are MUCH better with Ava now & we can leave her home with the sitter too, but that does not mean that our dates are turning out much better these days *(giggles)*
We have a teenage neighbor that we can trust & rely on, and she usually offers to watch our kiddos once a week. She is great with the kids, and the knowledge that her Mom is right next door is VERY comforting to us.
So, I usually order them a pizza, and Harry & I are off to dinner ALONE together. Sounds great....and it usually is. It is the only time we are able to talk to each other, and know that the other is listening can actually hear what you are saying without the kids interrupting. We get to enjoy a dinner with no potty breaks, no crayons, no spills and some quiet time (okay, so not exactly since we talk non-stop)!
We usually chose a place close to home, and can sit and enjoy each others company for quite a while. But, after dinner we are LOST as to what else to do...
Most of our dates fall on weekdays, and because there is NOTHING going on around here at 8-9PM here, the remainder of our "date" is usually spent...

at WalMart, doing the grocery shopping!
Yes, our night life is quite exciting :)
Our date nights really are very enjoyable for us though, we love our times together even if they are still focused on our kids/family. We still love to talk to each other, to laugh together, to hold hands, and share smiles over the silly things we experience each day as parents of four little ones. The fact that we get to go on dates, and WANT to spend time together is pretty lucky if you ask me. Now, one day we might actually find something exciting to do....we might actually make it to a movie (*gasp*).... or something much better than buying toilet paper & diapers at WalMart!
OMG, that is too freakin' hilarious. :) We are in desperate need of a regular date night too. We've gone on maybe 3 since Christopher was born and he'll be 3 years old next month. Anyway, just wanted to pop in and see how you are doing. Miss seeing you around. Come chat with me sometime. :)
